UNEB has released results for the 2021 national exams for primary, and secondary education cycles, namely; PLE, UCE and UCE 2020 exams. Many parents, teachers, students and school administrators are still celebrating. After results, teachers and parents should be discussing further education, career options, personal interests of these students, and school fees for the next level of education. That’s not the case currently. The usual education calendar has been massively disrupted by Covid-19 pandemic, and there a sense of uncertainty, and hopelessness about many issues in the education sector.
Globally, the Covid-19 pandemic has occasioned great hardship, unprecedented changes to our lives, and massively disrupted education and livelihoods. Universities and schools were shut down. Consequently, starting in 2020, there has been a sharp increase in use of online tools to provide services, including in the education sector. We should take this opportunity to extend career guidance and advising services to many young people using these new tools. Therefore, this Virtual Education Career Guidance workshop will provide practical solutions to UCE and UACE leavers, young people, parents, and well-wishers the opportunity to learn key issues related to post-secondary education and careers.
Create awareness about post-secondary study opportunities.
Inspire young people to pursue their dreams.
Provide practical solutions to the challenges faced by students in their education journey during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Approach & Intended Outcome
The approach is through holding virtual workshops, together with other follow up activities that take place after the workshops.
To increase enrolment to universities, and accelerate student learning during the Covid-19 era, especially in STEM programmes.
Stakeholders & Participants
The event will be virtual, and as such, it will attract participants from across different sectors, and age groups. It is anticipated that students (secondary & university), teachers, parents and community members will attend.
