Unlike most e-learning platforms, the CSI eLearning is built using moodle, the award-winning open-source platform. Moodle is a free and open-source learning management system written in PHP and distributed under the GNU General Public License. Moodle is designed to provide educators, administrators, and learners with a secure, and integrated system to create personalized learning environments. Currently, there are 158,987 active moodle sites in 246 countries, and 105 in Uganda (65 in January).
The CSI e-learning platform, therefore, has several advantages and is trusted by millions of users.
- It allows teachers to add content such notes, videos, audio and other interactive media.
- Teachers can set assessments, with numerous question types such as essay, quiz, true/false, drag and drop, essay, etc.
- Competencies, learning frameworks, and targets can be easily set for each learning activity to keep track of learners & produce intended outcomes.
- Easy file and resource sharing between teachers and students.
This e-learning platform is part of our broader project - Participatory E-Learning for Students Outcomes (PEST) which will be implemented in Lira and surrounding areas. Through this project, we will work with teachers in Lango sub-region to incorporate eLearning into their teaching schedules and create a win-win scenario for both teachers and students. We shall also work with school administrators and help them establish their own eLearning platforms.
